I am so ready to go camping. The tent is ready and my backpack is ready to go. Full with everything I will need. I hope!
I got one of those survival backpacks from eBay that is supposed to sustain you for up to 72 hours in an emergency … until help arrives. I guess we will find out soon enough. The first week in March … well actually it will be the second weekend by dates … I am going to try and talk my ninja friend Mike into going out to like Mt. Charleston or something and getting one with nature for up to 72 hours. Unless the Rangers find us first and make us come back to camp.
I want to set up a camera and get some footage of the pack in use. My main interest is to see if the pack is really going to be useful in keeping someone alive in the desert mountains until either rescued or finding help. The probability of finding help up there is a lot smaller than the chances of being rescued.
Every year there are quite a few people that get lost or stranded in the Mt. Charleston and Red Rock areas. It would seem that if they had at least one survival pack between them then they would be in a lot better shape when they are rescued and maybe even get rescued sooner!
My test is not to get rescued but to test this pack and see how well they actually work the common user. This being someone that is not familiar with the emergency procedures of being stranded or lost. The one thing that this pack does not include is some kind of guide or manual for survival in certain situations. After this test, the plan is to develop a better survival pack for the average person as well as the expert outdoors man.
This should be as much fun as it is a challenge.

I commend your forethought and wiah you God speed with your experiment.
The chances of some one dieing out there in such a situation are a lot worse than people think.
take care not to get lost yourself while out there.

Thanks Todd .. I’m very confident that we will be good to go for this experiment.
