Did these people become teachers to get paid the big bucks or to help children? I have serious concerns about what some of these teachers are doing in classrooms. I can safely say that teachers don’t become teachers to make tons of money because everyone knows … well that they don’t make tons of money. There has to be some other reason why anyone one would become a teacher in these United States. Maybe they aspire to be a college professor some day and teach the brightest minds in the country. Well these brightest minds have to start somewhere. These kids in our school systems are being gypped around every hallway they travel.
I have long known that kids that are trying to get an education are getting the short end of the stick the farther west you go. When I was growing up on the East Coast I thought I was getting a pretty good education and come to find out I was right. When I moved just a little toward the west coast I started my educational career at a new high school. At my first meeting with the counselors I was told that my already existing high school education put me well ahead of the other students that were in classes more advanced than what I was scheduled to be taking.
Needless to say the classes I ended up with were the easiest of any that I had ever taken. Art, Accounting, and I needed a health class to pass Senior year. Disappointed that I would have to settle for classes that did not challenge me in any way I now have to see my children subject to the laziness that is our local school system. It’s happening right now to a friend of mine Julie and her kids. Their situation is much worse as her oldest son is almost out of school and has not been receiving the education that he deserved due to low wages and lazy teachers.

I had that same problem… but it was worse further east. Moving from tx to fl, I had to redo 2 years of the same exact work because fl was so far behind.
I think the reason a large percentage of them become teachers now is because with the lack of teachers, they’ll take any b.a. degree… And that probably includes people that weren’t smart enough to handle the fields they got degrees in and fell back to teaching. oh - and the mexicans.
